lineage ii client is now large address aware and can handle more than 2gb of memory. this will hopefully reduce amount of critical errors from memory allocation issues.

fix is working on 64-bit operating systems (win7 x64, xp x64) with no additional setup needed. 32-bit operation systems (win7 x32, winxp x32) do not support this mode by default. some tweaking is needed to make it work properly.

how to enable 3gb mode for 32-bit operating systems:

    windows xp x32

    • /3gb boot option must be added to the boot.ini file os load string.
    • this msdn article contains an example and explanations: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg487508
    • warning: editing boot.ini file may cause issues if done wrong. please double-check everything before saving this file and rebooting computer. make a backup copy.

    windows7 x32, vista x32
    • click the start button. in the search box, type command prompt, and then, in the list of results, right-click command prompt and run it as administrator.
    • command prompt window will appear.
    • type in the following string (without quotes): "bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3072" and press enter. os settings will be changed.
    • reboot your computer.
    • note: you can reverse this action by executing "bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2048" command in the same way.
