    Hi guys,

as launch date gets closer I am still unsure which class to pick. I am thinking of playing a healer but I never played one and there are a lot of questions on my mind:

    1. Leveling: Is it possible to level a healer solo or should I box? If boxing which class to pick for?

    2. Grouping: Is it easy to find parties? Does every pt need a healer or just some?

    3. Class: As far as I remember there is only one real healer class, the bishop. Is this right? Are other classes like EE or PP able to be descent healers?

    4. PVP: Is there any strategy for healers to survive 1v1 pvps?

    Thanks in advance everyone!

    Cheers

EE is useful healer too, plus he has extremely useful buffs. Ee can be soloed, but i dont see a point in that given the fact that you should be able to find a pt relatively easy.

pick PP and all party want to take you everytime.
PP on classic - nice healer, mega buffs on low lvl
Bishop too very interesting for party, but i think PP will easily for you.

PP is a cleric (healer) from 1-40. So yes in classic at the start it would be a very good healer. A mini-bishop :)

Consider how much time you will spend < 40.

1/ It is possible to solo a healer but really not recommended; If u plan on boxing as ur going to be a SE or a EE then get any nuker.

2/ Yeah should be quiet easy to find parties, every party needs a healer.

3/ There are 3, bishop, elven elder, shilien elder. They all have some unique abilities and have there pro's and cons. Bishop is more of a pure healer while the other 2 are also able to recharge and have some unique buffs.

4/ Stay at the back. When being offensive you can debuff enemies (sleep/root/...)

Prophet can only be used as a 'healer' in 1-40 after that its just a buffing class. Might only be decent in a small group when not many heals r needed.

And 40+ he will just be a buffer.

If you want heal go for Bishop, EE or SE.

    Bishop:
+Some Buffs pre 40 for easy party
    +Best heals in the game
    +Every PVP party wants you
    +Best Res

    -slow as **** :p
    -no Recharge

    EE:
    +Good heal
    +Good Res
    +Fast cast speed
    +Recharge
    +Party Return
    +Good pvp Buffs after 40+
+Can go with full recharger if they have heal

    -Has not many heals
    -only single target heal
    -no Purify

    SE:
    +Good buffs after 40+
    +Empower!!
    +Recharge
    +Good Heal (Single and Group)
    +Root
    +Stigma

    - slower cast speed
    - only lvl 2 Res

There are sure more Cons and Pros but thats all i can think of now.

SE and EE can go easy as healer and recharger in a party, think its easyer to find a party/duo with them, coz bishop heal is overkill in PVE and he cant recharge. In PVP a bishop will be a big +
For solo PVE : it is a pain in the ***! you could go kill undead with might of heaven, but its slow and costs way to much MP, so party/duo will be way better.

1vs1 PVP : Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell.... sleep/root and call for help... :D
With mana burn back in the days it was OKish. I used to get full buffs for my EE, and gank nukers. Trance + mana burn and smack the **** out of them with a dagger if they dont BSoE. If it didnt work just PR :p
But it was just for the lols, most of the time you just run/PR/BSoE.
Hope i could help you a bit.

It's possible but hard. All healers have nukes against undead until lvl 40. After lvl 40 only Bishop and EE have new more powerful nukes against undead, so you can go solo. Prophet can try to wear heavy armor and go destroy some mobs with duals.

Every party needs a healer. Some choose dedicated healer - Bishop, some try to combine heals and buffs and go for EE, SE or Prophet. In other words, finding party shouldn't be a problem. [/QUOTE]

Healer need both power of the heal and fast casting speed. Bishop has both + variety of vitalizing options, EE has speed, but lacks power, SE has power but lacks speed, Prophet is the worst of them, loosing both in power and cast speed.

    @Sonnova said it right:
If you know your enemy is 5 levels lower than you, you can try to root him and attack with 1st prof windstrikes. Also you can heal yourself if you get any ranged damage.

Wow guys thanks for your fast replies! They helped alot! Good to have such a nice community :)

Since I always liked the female Light Elves I maybe go for an EE.

About boxing: Would I be good with any Nuker? I once played a SPS and I really liked it. Or would this be the worst choice? (SPH and Necro would be my last choice)
Are there also melee classes (like SR or PW) I could go with?

you'll be good with any nuker, so you can go for SpS, also, it will be easier for you to start in the same village with both chars.

Well, the best duo would be any nuker + SE. You need/want the Empower buff and recharge.
For melees you will want an SE for the dmg buffs(+haste pots), the EE buffs r more for tanks/dwarfs if you use a blunt weapon (see other thread for cons and pros) - (talking only about the healers here, so not WC/PP !!)
For archers I would go PP, coz they dont need the Heals if you kite the mobs, but the PP is not a healer!

If you go solo, just find some nice friends and a clan.. there is nothing like "too many healers or rechargers!"

Empower is just way to strong for mages to go without it.
Dont get me wrong, i love EEs, but if you plan on duo with a mage SE has the uper hand.

Actually I want to play an EE active. Mostly in parties.

But sometimes I am not into playing in parties at all. Therefore I need a class to box with. In this case I would play this class active and box the EE.

So picking a SPS sound good to me. (Maybe I go for Spoiler instead but not sure yet)

Anyways thanks alot for your replies everybody!

I agree with him on WL, but this setup require few things:

    1) free aoe spots, which will be hard to find at the server start
    2) your skill to switch windows, because 20-40 WL has no aoe stun and you'll need to heal him with EE, because mobs will damage him a lot. And sometimes when you heal him, mobs will attack you...so... prepare to die a lot )
    3) after 40 you still have to switch windows a lot, because WL will stun mobs and this takes more mana.

If you manage to solve these, yes, WL is a beast in PvE exping.

I think he is right about the Warlord. Pull mobs and spam AOE stun and dmg skills.
    The only problem could be:
a)finding a spot with mobs to AoE
b)finding a spot where noone is there to stun you just to piss you off and take your stuff

CDL in my eyes is a double-edged blade. it has tons of dmg, but if something lookes at you the wrong way its -4% ...

about the ranking on the mages i have to clue... might be as he said, just played the SpS and so much stuff changed.
