Lineage working on single-per-single cores..so the i7 is too much except if you play another games.

The socket has nothing to do with that..the only diffence all these years is the new socket needs less electricity. Always i7 is better than i5.
But i want you understand i5 is perfect for l2 you dont need to spend more money for i7 if you play only lineage.

    he has 2 computers...

and the i5 is better cpu wise, but i dont think it will make much difference, they are both fine to run l2

show us the rest of the rig though. whatever has faster ram will let you switch between windows faster...

i7 is never better for games then i5, i7 has virtualization and advanced ht which isnt needed for games, especially old ones that cant utilize it. his i5 has better performance per core, so cpu wise, the i5 wins for l2

    computer 1 -Dell XPS
    i5 2400S @2.50ghz
    16gb ram
    SSD
    750TI graphics card

    Computer 2 -Alienware aurura (2009)
    i7 920 2.66ghz
    8gb ram
    SS HYBRID drive
Radeon 5800 series(dont know the exact model)

IF the i7 was better I think thinking of putting the SSD in there instead of the hybrid, and putting the 16gb and graphics card too.

So basically work from the CPU and build on that (no money will be spend all parts i already own). So swap all the best parts i have to one machine.

Thanks for all the adive above, hopefully I can have this decided today with your help guys ready for tomorrow :D
